Itinerary:
Day 1: Tangier → Chefchaouen (2.5 hours drive, 120 km)
Depart from Tangier and head toward Chefchaouen, Morocco’s famous Blue City. Spend the day wandering its colorful streets, framed by the stunning Rif Mountains. The city is known for its charming blue-painted buildings and relaxed atmosphere, offering great photo opportunities and a peaceful experience. Enjoy your overnight stay in Chefchaouen, where you can also explore local markets and taste traditional Moroccan dishes.
Day 2: Chefchaouen → Meknes → Volubilis → Fes (4.5 hours drive, 250 km)
On Day 2, travel to Fes with a stop in Meknes, a historic imperial city. Visit the Bab Mansour Gate, one of the most impressive gates in Morocco, and explore Meknes’ historical medina. Continue to the Roman ruins of Volubilis, a UNESCO World Heritage site known for its well-preserved mosaics and ruins. Day 3: Fes → Middle Atlas → Merzouga (7 hours drive, 470 km)
Today, travel through the scenic Middle Atlas Mountains, stopping in the picturesque town of Ifrane, known as the “Switzerland of Morocco,” and Azrou, home to the famous Barbary macaques. After a lunch break in Midelt, continue through the Ziz Valley with its expansive palm groves and kasbahs before reaching Merzouga. Upon arrival, embark on a camel trek into the Erg Chebbi dunes for a stunning sunset. Spend the night in a desert camp, where you’ll enjoy traditional food, music, and stargazing.
Day 4: Merzouga → Aït Ben Haddou → Marrakech (9 hours drive, 550 km)
